The position will perform a variety of routine library work including shelving and retrieving a variety of library materials; responding to requests and inquiries from the general public, and preparing room set-up, by arranging tables and chairs, for library programs.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This person should have strong organizational skills, have the ability to pay high attention to detail, multi-task, and take initiative.
Successful candidates will have excellent customer service skills, along with the ability to maintain and foster cooperative and courteous working relationships.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to sort efficiently in alphabetic, numeric, or alphanumeric order is essential in this role.
This candidate must also be able to work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced customer service-orientated environment.
The ideal candidate will have at least six months to one year working or volunteering in a customer service environment.
Previous experience working or volunteering in a Library is preferred.
This recruitment is for a part-time, non-benefited position, not to exceed 1,000 hours of employment in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).
The working hours as a Library Page will be varied.
The Position The following tasks are typical for positions in this classification.
Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed here:
1.
Perform routine library work; shelve books, magazines, pamphlets, documents and various other Library materials according to established procedures.
2.
Maintain the Library in a clean and orderly fashion; straighten book shelves and areas of public use; set up and break down tables and chairs for events and programs; set up audio-visual equipment.
3.
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public regarding use of Library facilities and equipment; refer to appropriate Library staff as necessary.
4.
Inspect Library collection for damage or needed repairs; clean or repair books and audio-visual materials.
5.
Provide assistance to higher level Library staff; retrieve materials from restricted areas; assist in performing routine circulation duties.
6.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Requirements Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
