Cable/Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description
Cable/Infrastructure Engineers must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge of designing complex cable plans for telecommunications systems, including the layout structures for equipment installations, as well as expanding existing cabling systems. Candidates are required to solve technical engineering problems relating to secure and non-secure voice, video, data and radio frequency cable infrastructure.
Typical Duties
Developing and maintaining IT wiring diagrams
Solving issues related to cables and networks
Testing and terminating cables
Reporting current status via ticketing system
Maintaining space cleanliness
Following all safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices
Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation
Working at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces
Lifting up to 50 pounds and using appropriate equipment to move heavier items
Operating vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders and test equipment.
Education:
Associate of Science degree in Information Technology, IT Security, Network Systems Technology or related field or equivalent experience plus four (4) to seven (7) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.
Required Experience:
8 years of designing, installing and troubleshooting issues related to secure/non-secure voice, video, data and radio frequency cable infrastructure
Required Certification: Employment is contingent upon keeping required certifications current
DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher
Work Environment:
Work will be performed inside a large facility or outside in varying conditions (i.e. heat, ice, wind, snow, rain)
Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Position could require some night and weekend work.
Physical Requirements:
Climbing, working at heights and in small confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets and server racks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions. Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
Equipment and Machines:
Operating vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders and test equipment.
General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance:
Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
On-Call or after hours support may be required
Travel:
Continental and Oversees travel may be required. It is important to maintain a current passport.
Other Essential Functions:
Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client's standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
The position for which you are applying for requires a US government security clearance. This is to advise you, that should you be extended an offer, if you possess a dual citizenship (i.e., citizen of the US and another country), in order to be granted a clearance you will be required to relinquish your citizenship in the foreign country.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
